How to Draw Tigger
Hello and welcome!
Here you can learn how to draw Tigger in three different
positions.
In
the first part of this lesson we'll draw Tigger's head only, because
its small details are very important and need to be done carefully.
In the second part of this lesson we draw a full body for each head
from the first section.

How
to Draw Tigger 1.1 - Head: Front View
The whole body of Tigger in the frontal position has the size of four
heads.
When you draw the head now, leave space for three more heads below it,
if you want to draw the entire body later.
How to Draw
Tigger - Head: Front View > Steps 1 - 4
1.
Start by drawing a thick oval for Tigger's snout.
2.
Then add the chin below the snout, making it a bit smaller than the
snout itself.
3.
Now you can draw the main shape of Tigger's head. Make it twice as
broad as the snout, and going upwards from the snout as large as the
chin.
Note how pointy the head is at the left and the right.
4.
Draw in a boomerang-shaped stripe on Tigger's forehead. This is serving
as his eyebrows. Connect it at the bottom through curved lines with the
snout.
How to Draw
Tigger - Head: Front View > Steps 5 - 8
5.
Draw in
the nose and the ears in this step. Place the nose in the upper middle
of the snout. It has the shape of a triangle with curved sides.
Attach the ears to the pointy sides of the head.
6.
Draw a curved line through the ears, separating the inner ear from the
outer ear. Then change the bottom of the snout into a curved line, and
draw a connecting line going down from the nose.
7.
Draw a single line into each ear. Then connect the upper edges of the
nose with the snout's side through straight lines. Also add two rounded
shapes beside the snout. These are the corners of Tigger's mouth.
8.
The other stripes on Tigger's head look like slightly curved triangles.
Draw one on each side coming down from the head's top, and two on
each side coming up from the bottom.
How to Draw
Tigger - Head: Front View > Steps 9 - 11
9.
There are just a few details left.
Draw in the eyes as small circles
with curved lines above them, let six whiskers grow around the
nose, and then place a tiny stripe on each side of the snout, where the
lines that come from the nose are touching it.
10. - 11.
Now you
can carefully trace your pencil drawing with a black pen, erase the
pencil lines afterwards, and then color your drawing. If you want to
draw the entire body however, wait until the whole body is complete
before you do this.
If you want to continue right away with the rest of the body,

Next, I show you a few simple ways how you can change the emotional
expressions of Tigger's face.
Emotional Expressions:
How to Draw
Tigger - Emotional Expressions > Joy and Happiness

To create a very joyful face, you just need to make two little
alterations.
First, you draw the eyes not as circles, but as two thin lines that are
slightly curved upwards.
Second, you make the chin-shape a bit longer. Then you have enough
space to draw in an opened mouth.
Of course, you can also change the eyes while leaving the mouth closed.
How to Draw
Tigger - Emotional Expressions > Sadness or Worry

To
create the expression of sadness, draw the small lines above the eyes
pointing upwards, and let the thick, black eyebrow-stripe follow this
movement.
Erase the separation between snout and chin, and draw in a narrow,
opened mouth sitting a bit sidewards.
Also let the ears on hang down.
How to Draw
Tigger - Emotional Expressions > Anger or Frustration
Sure, you don't see this emotion too often on Tigger's face, but
sometimes he puts in on to scare his friends a little.

Draw two lines from the edges of the big eyebrow-stripe to the
middle of the snout, creating a thin frame around the eyes. Also draw a
vertical line going upwards between the eyes.
Here,
there is no separating line between snout and chin either. Draw the
corners of the mouth pointing downwards to express discontent.
How
to Draw Tigger 1.2 - Head: Profile
The whole body of Tigger in this position has roughly three times the
height and length of his head.
Take care to leave enough space on your paper, if you want to draw the
entire body later.
Here are the steps how to draw the head:
How to Draw
Tigger - Head: Profile > Steps 1 - 4
1.
Begin with a simple circle.
2.
Then attach a shape for the snout at its side. It should be as long
as the circle's diameter. The middle-axes are just there to
point out where the snout is touching the circle. On the right side,
the snout starts a bit above the horizontal axis, and it touches the
circle's bottom slightly to the right of the vertical axis.
3.
Separate the snout with a curved line into an upper and lower
section, making the upper one slightly thicker than the lower one.
Round off the front of the lower section at the top. Then cut off a
part of
the circle's top and bottom to make Tigger's head rather flat.
4.
Erase the over standing parts of the circle and the snout. Then draw in
the nose and a broad frame around the mouth. You can also
sketch
in the neck in this step (if you want to draw the entire body, you
may have to change the neck later).
How to Draw
Tigger - Head: Profile > Steps 5 - 8
5.
Erase the last part of the circle, and draw the mouth-line all the way
to the frame. Add ears to the end of the head, afterwards.
6.
Now you can draw in a big stripe on the forehead. Add a curved line
going from the lower part of this stripe to
the beginning of the snout. Make a few changes to the ear in the front,
too.
Separate its inner part with a curved line from the outer part, and
then draw a single line into it.
7.
Now it's time to draw the rest of the stripes.
There
is one more stripe going down from the head's top, three more stripes
in
the lower area of the head, and two stripes on the neck. Make all these
stripes slightly curved.
8.
You're almost done; there are just a few small details to add.
Draw
in two tiny stripes on the snout, lying on the
separating line. Add a small line behind the nose. Then draw in the eye
and the whiskers, and Tigger's head is complete.

Tigger - Head: Profile > Steps 9 - 10
9. - 10.
There are two more optional steps you can do.
You can retrace the pencil lines with a thin black pen, erase the
pencil lines, and then color your picture.
But don't do this right now, if you want to draw the rest of Tigger's
body.

How
to Draw Tigger 1.3 - Head:
Three-Quarter Profile
Tigger's whole body has roughly four times the height and three times
the width of his head in this position.
Leave enough space on your paper, if you want to draw the entire body
later.
How
to Draw Tigger - Head: Three-Quarter Profile > Steps 1
- 4
1. Begin with a circle.
2.
Add the shapes for the upper and lower part of Tigger's snout to its
side. Together they should roughly have the same height
as the circle itself. Compare the straight line in the picture to the
circle's size to
see this.
3.
The nose resembles a triangle, but is seen from a side angle. Draw it
in
at the top of the snout, and connect its bottom through a slightly
curved line with the snout. Also draw the opened mouth on the lower jaw.
4.
Add a big eyebrow-stripe with a frame below it in this step. Because
of the view angle, the side that is slightly turned away from us has to
be shorter.
How to Draw
Tigger - Head: Three-Quarter Profile > Steps 5 - 8
5.
Cut off a
part of the circle's top and bottom to bring Tigger's head into a
lengthy shape. You can actually erase the entire circle afterwards. I
only erased it partially in this step, and erased the rest in step 7.
6.
Draw in the ears, and make the ear in the foreground a bit
larger than the other one. Also sketch in the neck (if you want to
draw the entire body, you may have to redraw the neck later).
7.
Separate the inner part of the ears with a curve line. Also draw a
line that divides the upper snout in two sections, curves down to touch
the corner of the mouth, and
then curves around the root of the lower jaw.
8.
Draw the eyes as two small circles, add a line into each ear, and then
let whiskers grow out of the snout.
How to Draw
Tigger - Head: Three-Quarter Profile > Steps 9 - 11
9.
Finally, it's time to stripe Tigger's head.
Draw
one big stripe going down from the top of the head, and three smaller
stripes coming up from the bottom. Well, two of them actually grow out
of the lower jaw.
10. - 11.
Optionally,
you can now redraw the pencil lines with black ink, erase the pencil
lines, and color your drawing afterwards. If you want to draw the
entire body, however, wait until it is complete before you do this.
(I
changed the neck and the eyes in these steps a little bit for the full
body drawing. And obviously, the 12. should be a 11. in the picture.)

How
to Draw Tigger - Part 2: The Body
In
the second part of this drawing lesson, we assume that you have already
drawn Tigger's head, and we continue to draw the rest of the body in
different positions.

How
to Draw Tigger 2.1 - Body: Front View
1.
When Tigger is standing upright, his body is about 4 times as high as
the head. The torso is a long oval that is as broad as the head
without ears. Draw it in, and leave space of half a head below it for
the legs and feet.
2.
Tigger's legs are very, very short. They almost immediately transition
into the knees and then go down into the large feet. Let them grow
out of the big oval at the bottom.
3.
The arms are much longer than the legs. Including hands they are about
as long as the distance from chin to the beginning of the legs.
It's important to clearly point out the elbows. The hands are pretty
simple, since Tigger doesn't have single fingers, except for the thumb.
4.
Erase the parts of the torso where arms and legs are connected to it.
Then draw another, slightly smaller, oval into it. It goes all the way
to
the bottom and reaches up just below the chin.
5.
Add Tigger's tail in this step. It is fairly thick, and has a rather
flat end.
Having done that, you already drew the entire body, and we just have to
add a lot of stripes on it now.
6.
There are five ring
shaped stripes going around the tail. One at the beginning, one at the
end, and three in between. Make the stripe on the tip a bit thicker
than the others. One of the five stripes is hidden behind the leg, and
the last one is largely hidden behind the torso.
Also draw three slightly curved spike-shaped stripes on each leg.
7.
Now place two spiky stripes in between the other stripes on the tail
everywhere.
8.
Draw more of these stripes on the arms and shoulders, and Tigger is
complete!
9. - 10.
Now you can ink and color the entire Tigger drawing, if you like to do
these additional steps.
Tigger is ready to play funny tricks on his friends in the Hundred Acre
Wood.
>
How
to Draw Tigger 2.2 - Body: Profile
1.
In this picture Tigger is going to stand on all fours.
To accommodate for that, draw the neck pointing a bit backwards.
2.
Draw a bump for the shoulder at the neck's end, and also lengthen the
lower line of the neck towards the left, until it ends under the ear.

3. Now you can draw
in the first leg.
The lines are pointing out the proportions:
The
distance from the bottom of the head to the knee equals the height of
one head, and it is one more head to go all the way to the bottom of
the foot. Don't be too precise about the proportional guidelines. They
are just there for orientation.
4.
Now you can draw in Tigger's torso. It is about as long as the head and
goes up towards the end.
5.
Draw in the hind legs in this step. They are larger than the front legs
in this position, and also a little bit thicker.
(It's just the other way round than in the standing position.
That's the cool way a cartoon character can adjust itself.)

6.
Draw in the second pair of legs now. Simply draw them parallel to the
legs in the foreground, and only place them slightly higher.
7.
Add Tigger's tail to his hind end. Make it pretty long and thick.
8.
And then draw five stripes on it, making the one at the tip the
thickest.

9. Stripe Mania!
There
are tons of stripes to add in this step, but afterwards Tigger will be
complete.
Draw two small, spiky stripes in between the other
stripes on the tail,
three stripes on the front side of the legs
and two on their back sides.
There
is one big stripe on the hind end, three smaller ones on the back,
one
stripe is on the shoulder, and three on the neck.
Phew, that's all.
10. - 11.
Now you can finally retrace and color your Tigger drawing.
And there you have him, ready to jump and run and do all sorts of goofy
things, being the funny guy that he is.
How
to Draw Tigger 2.3 - Body:
Three-Quarter Profile
1.
Draw Tigger's body as a bean shape that is twice as large as his head.
2.
To draw the arms, you can take the length of the head as an orientation.
One arm is just as long as the head, while the other one is a bit
shorter, since you see it from a side angle.
3.
The legs have roughly the length of an arm without hand. Note how the
upper line for the leg on the left (our left) is slightly reaching into
the bean-shape. This makes the leg appear a bit longer than the other
one.
4.
Erase the lines of the torso where arms and legs are attached to it.
Then add a big oval on Tigger's belly.
5.
Draw two parallel zigzag lines going down for the tail. Connect them at
the bottom
with a straight line.
Now all body parts are drawn, and we just have
to add a lot of stripes on them. So let's begin right away!
Draw two stripes on the neck and four
on each arm.
They all just look like slightly curved triangles.
6.
Add three stripes along the lower side of each arm, so that they point
into the gaps between the stripes along the top.
Then draw four stripes along the back,
and three on each leg. Also draw stripes on the tail, but make them
very thin, since they are being squeezed together through the jumping.
In total, there are five
straight stripes going all the way across the tail, and between them
there are always two thin, spike-shaped stripes.
7.
- 8. Jipeeeh!
Tigger is finished and hoping around like the clown that he is. You can
now ink the
drawing with a thin black pen and color it afterwards, if you like.
And so comes the end of this drawing lesson, and I hope you enjoyed it.
Now you know how to draw Tigger.
